Dawlish has the unusual distinction of a railway line literally running alongside the beach. It is popular for day trips. This scene harks back to old fashioned sea-side holidays where you can stroll a few minutes from the quay and get yourself a take away cream tea to eat on the strange coloured sand while children spend hours dipping nets into the rock pools behind the sea wall.
