I painted this after visiting the Kennedy Space Centre and a steam rally both during one summer. I was struck by the huge leap humankind had made in a few generations.Maybe the annual day out to the local steam rally with my Father has left within me a misplaced nostalgia but whenever a traction engine comes trundling through the village belching clouds of black smoke in its wake I am instantly transported back to a time when life was all that bit simpler.
