There is a mallard in the shadows of this painting of the shallow water at the edge of the river. It was the first of my set of reflection paintings and I was trying to get away from my tight illustrative style even using an old kitchen fork to describe the patterns of the willow. This desire born of an ill advised fine art course has proved difficult over the years to achieve . I have now learnt to stop fighting what comes naturally and just enjoy painting. If an abstract is the result then it has been arrived at happily.
